Kaman Automation’s rigorous documentation and evaluation standards ensure the new solutions we create provide expected and repeatable outcomes. We can also review existing documentation and help bring it up to date, incorporating the existing “tribal knowledge” known on the floor but not yet recorded, or create new documentation to make current our customers’ applications.

For new design documentation, Automation customers turn to us for enclosure & sub-panel layouts, cable assembly details, bills of materials, operation & maintenance manuals (O&Ms), graphical screen layouts of operator interface terminals and others, either to their specified format or our own standard format and CAD symbol sets. Electrical schematic documentation can be provided in NFPA Ladder or IEC formats using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical or Eplan CAD/CAE software tools.

For existing design documentation typically associated with “build to print” or “contract manufacturing” opportunities supplied by our customers, Automation’s Manufacturing Engineering (ME) group reviews and marks-up the documentation as necessary to ensure efficient manufacturing and compliance with our quality procedures. Often, development of new documentation is part of initial “build to print” orders.

Depending on requirements, specific documentation sets are created in support of electrical and safety compliance certification processes include Underwriters Laboratory (UL), (CSA), IEC construction files (CE Mark) and others.

With extensive experience developing and supporting our OEM and end-user customers’ documentation needs, Kaman Automation is uniquely qualified to provide value-added solutions, whether it’s engineering a complete menu-driven documentation system capable of quickly handling the OEM’s model variations or ongoing management of an OEM’s documentation set in support of Value Engineering efforts.
